For may people there is nothing quite like setting out on their motor boat or yacht for a day a week or even longer at sea but things don’t always go to plan.
Things often go wrong topside that need to be rectified quickly, and for most the knowledge and experience they have amassed over the years will help them solve these. But what about when things need solving below the waterline?
Freeing a fouled propeller, inspecting the keel for damage, repairing a thrusters, unblocking and inlet or freeing a trapped anchor are just some of the things that can happen at sea and that can cause a real problem if you don’t know how to get beneath the waterline quickly and safely.
It’s easy to understand why so many boat owners fail to learn how to scuba dive, especially when traditional scuba training programmes can take weeks to complete, valuable time that could be spent topside!
But now there is a Microdive scuba programme available that will teach you how to scuba dive safely and without taking up too much of your time at all.
The Microdive Basic Diver programme was originally written for the RYA (Royal Yacht Association) and is now a mandatory requirement for powerboat drivers to complete prior to them racing, this same course is now available for you!
This unique scuba course teaches you all that you need to know to scuba dive safely to a depth of 5 metres, and can be completed in just one day. It consists of academic knowledge, learning some surface and underwater diving skills and a couple of supervised dives in an open water environment.
When you consider the time and effort put into learning top side skills, it makes sense to give up 24 hours of your life to learn safe scuba skills (to enable you in emergencies) to get underwater so that you can be truly independent at sea.
For those who have completed the Microdive Basic Diver Course and who wish to know how to dive to a greater depth, there is also a 9-metre programme available that required just an additional day of training to complete.
